Royal Ambarrukmo Yogyakarta Introduces “Laku Rasa” Experience to the European Market

YOGYAKARTA – Royal Ambarrukmo Yogyakarta served as the central venue for the Gastro–Wellness Mega Famtrip: Journey of the Five Senses – Laku Rasa, an initiative by Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy designed to strengthen the European market for gastronomy, wellness, and transformative travel. Travel agents from several European countries arrived at the iconic heritage hotel on 28 November 2025 to embark on a curated program rooted in the philosophy of balance between body and mind.

Upon arrival, participants were welcomed with a tea-blending ritual introducing the concept of laku—a mindful approach to movement and presence, which became the guiding theme of their journey. The program continued with an immersive wellness session at the Royal Javanese Spa – Nur Kardhatyan, where traditional Javanese massage techniques were combined with aromatic oils once favored by the royal Mataram court. Guests also explored Kedhaton Ambarrukmo, a historic compound showcasing Javanese architecture and cultural heritage.

The experience was further enriched with Patehan, the serene royal tea ceremony of the Yogyakarta Palace, and Jemparingan, traditional archery aimed at cultivating focus and inner balance. The day concluded with Ladosan Dhahar, a refined royal dining tradition presenting classical Javanese dishes in an elegant, authentic Karaton style.

General Manager of Royal Ambarrukmo Yogyakarta, I Gede Sujana, emphasized the significance of the event in positioning Yogyakarta as a destination for meaningful, culture-based travel experiences. “Royal Ambarrukmo remains committed to showcasing Javanese heritage through authentic service. Through this program, we hope to inspire more European travelers to discover Yogyakarta as a destination rich in quality experiences,” he said.

Through the Gastro–Wellness initiative, Royal Ambarrukmo Yogyakarta reinforces its standing as a premier heritage-and-wellness destination—bridging Javanese traditions with global travel trends while supporting government efforts to attract premium European visitors to Yogyakarta. (Team)
